I work at my stable (been going there since I was five) and have become part of the family. Riding is my life, but I've never owned a horse. I'm a junior in high school, so I'll be a senior next year, then I leave for college. Do you think it's worth getting a horse now? I don't want to neglect it while I'm in college.
It depends on your commitment level/college distance. I know girls who go to college, have their trainer ride their horse, and when they come back to visit or for break, they go back to riding their horses. But, their colleges were always relatively close (no more than 2 or 3 states away). If the college you decide on is too far away for it to make sense for you to come back to ride at your current barn, I would lease a horse now rather than buy one. But it could easily go the other way too :). Also, if you buy a horse and the college you go to has a riding team/stable close by, it is an option to take your horse to college with you. Hope this helps a little bit!
how good or bad a hunter’s eq is depends on the rider. Just as with almost any style of riding, some riders have good equitation and others have poor position. Less focus is placed on a hunter rider’s eq, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they overall have bad position. One of my friends is a hunter and her position is amazing :)
Can you and the anon(s) stop with the talking about body weight? It's irrelevant to this blog and it's also triggering to some of us who struggle with stuff like that.
two things to say to this:
1: you’re right that it’s irrelevant to the blog, and I think I shall make some new memes to compensate :)
but 2: It has only been two posts (now three, I guess) about my personal weight. I did not think it would even be an issue when I posted it as one of my “facts about me”, but since the other anons were were having an issue with it, I wanted to set the record straight that I was not starving myself and am healthy. If they had not gone anon, I would have replied privately to their blogs. But since they chose anon, I didn’t want anyone to think I had an eating disorder and so I had to publish their questions on this blog.
I apologize if it was at all triggering to any of you guys, but just remember we were talking about me and that we are all different and have different struggles.
5'6" and 100 lbs isn't healthy. i don't care who says so.
except… it is. If you were to see me in real life, you would see I’m not scarily skinny or dangerously underweight. I actually eat a lot, I just don’t like to eat terribly unhealthy foods. Although, even now I’m eating a bowl of ice cream ;)
Well, I’m naturally thin, but my doctor says I’m perfectly healthy. I’ve never dieted or starved myself. Haha I’ve actually been trying to gain weight (mostly by eating a lot more protein) because I need the might for riding. Don’t worry, I’m healthy and strong :)
